Write Up:
Tunnel Ridge - February 7, 2010 Coordinator: Larry Hiller Ignoring the fickleness of winter weather conditions, seven GMS members optimistically ascended to a high, flat perch on Tunnel Ridge. The promise of exceptional views did not disappoint. As the early morning overcast slowly gave way to sunshine, we were rewarded with magical, dramatic scenery, especially of the Mount Grant/Great Northern massif and Mount Liebig. The only difficult decision we had to make was when to conclude our lingering picnic on a warm, calm, beautiful day. Tunnel Ridge is wothwhile visiting any time of the year. In the summer and early fall, the ridge is an approach route for climbing Mount Liebig -- a very worthwhile endeavor. Participants in this (12-mile roundtrip, 3,000-foot vertical gain) combination ski/snowshoe outing were: Larry Hiller, Don Arthur, Diane Lundgren, Linda Soper, Ken Nielson, Brian Kennedy and Paul Cogswell.
