On March 7th, twenty GMS members left the Lake McDonald parking lot for Sperry Chalet and Lincoln Peak. The party split into two groups about one half mile beyond the Fish Lake trail junction. Four members continued up the trail to Sperry Chalet and then to Lincoln Peak via Lincoln Pass. The other sixteen members went through the forest and used an approach via the southwestern ridge. After attaining the ridge, at approximately 6600 feet, seven continued on to the summit of Lincoln Peak and returned via the Sperry Chalet trail. The rest of the party turned around after enjoying the views of Glacier from their vantage point. Snow conditions were considered safe as the temperature remained cool under clear sunny skies. Round trip to the peak was approximately 14.5 miles with an elevation gain of 4300 feet. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
