Write Up:
Our group of 13 met at the Trout Lake trailhead on a warm, sunny day. We walked up the trail to Howe Ridge and had a snack. By this time the clouds blocked out the sun and threatened rain, but that didn't dampen our spirits. We had an easy bushwhack up to the ridge. At this point we split into two groups and some immediately continued climbing to the summit. A few chose to take in the vistas from the ridge. The second group then went on. The weather had changed from warmth and sunshine to wind, rain, cool air temperatures and fog. The first group had views from the summit, the second group was in pea soup. The fog was so dense it was difficult to see more than 10 feet ahead. The conditions didn't dampen the group's determination to summit however. Neither group lingered at the summit. We dropped down on the ridge and regrouped at the lowest point just before entering the bushwhack. Back at the trailhead we all enjoyed the libations provided by the coordinator. We didn't encounter any wildlife, but the views from the ridge were quite enjoyable. All in all it was a great day in the Park.
