Jerry Lundgren, Michael Barragan, Jack Beard, Ken McDermott, Dell Meuchel, Al Hofmeister, Linda Soper, Don Scharfe, Colleen Scharfe and I started on the Lee Ridge Trail at approximately 7:30 a.m. and arrived at Gable Pass at 9:30. The weather was pleasant and Gable Pass was quite picturesque. After a short break we made an ill-fated attempt on Gable. I had hoped to find Altyn limestone, but instead we found a very loose mudstone. We aborted after a short stay stuck somewhere between "the Outer Limits" and "the Twilight Zone". Attempting another route on Gable wasn't feasible because of the time, therefore we went for an alternate. Some of the group climbed Chief Mountain, some climbed Papoose and some climbed Ninaki. We did find Altyn limestone on a Class 4 pitch on Ninaki. The Lee Ridge Trail was just as long on the way out. Back at the trailhead we enjoyed a cold beverage to conclude another fun adventure. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
