Sat, Mar 22 2014 - Ski Touring (View Original Event Details)

Coordinator(s): Joe Grabowski
Participants:Joe Grabowski, Denise Grabowski, Jim, Paul Cogswell

Write Up:
Ski touring after the spring equinox can be hit or miss, sometimes on the same day. Often times one has to get the powder the day of the storm. With the high angled sun, longer days and quickly rising temps the snow can turn to mush in 30 minutes. This day it was 9 degrees in the morning with mostly sunny skies. The powder on the north faces stayed in shape into the following day and stability was finally good. The previous six weeks offered the poorest stability I have witnessed in a number of years. Another day of excellent powder skiing in the Middle Fork. Paul Cogswell, Jim Cossitt and Joe Grabowski. Denise sat out recovering from a bad cold but she and I got out to the Middle Fork on March 23 for yet another outstanding day of ski touring.

Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you.
