Write Up:
Nine GMS mountaineers left Two Medicine Lake just after 7 AM and hiked the South Shore Trail towards Two Medicine Pass. There was a brisk wind on the slopes leading up to the pass. After a brief rest, we crossed below the southeast face of Mount Rockwell and gained the south ridge. We “explored” an extended ledge along the west face of the mountain before returning to the ascent route. Along the ledge, we enjoyed lunch directly above Aurice Lake. The spectacular summit was gained via the standard route. After our summit visit, we retraced our steps down the southwest face and returned directly to the south ridge. From there, it was a long walk back to the trailhead and a meal with friends in East Glacier.
