Write Up:
We knew this was going to be a long day when we started up the Swiftcurrent Pass trail at 7:45 a.m. We made good time to the pass, then down to the Highline Trail. Unfortunately, the Ahern Drift was impassable, so we had to go down the cliffs between the cliffs and snow until we could get around the snow. Once back on the Highline we followed it the short distance to the Ahern Pass trail. From Ahern Pass the summit was a mile and 1600' via a climber's trail. Total distance 13.4. The weather held until we got back down in the Swiftcurrent valley when we got hit by a rain squall. Then we were delayed by a bull moose who would not leave the trail. Back to the cars at 9:00 p.m. Pizza at the Swiftcurrent Restaurant hit the spot.
