We departed Two Medicine Lake unsure what the weather held in store for us. Due to a bear carcass closing the North Trail, we started at the South Shore Trailhead and cut over to the Dawson Pass Trail. The weather cleared and the hike to Dawson Pass was in bright sunshine. After a brief layover at the pass, we started up the southern slope of Flinsch Peak staying on the trail until it switchbacked towards Pitamakan Pass. From there, we ascended the moderate slope to the final headwall. We passed through the class 3 headwall via a short mantle and scrambled up the chimney above. The summit was another minute or so further. While enjoying the limitless views, we had an extended lunch. Doug and Jason left the summit first and visited Mt. Helen. We reconvened at Dawson Pass and returned in the late afternoon. We were Marc Ardito, Bill Krause, Elizabeth Mack, Catherine O’Mara, Brian Pinter, Doug Thorsen, and Jason Wilkes.
