Write Up:
The limit of 12 was filled and then exceeded by one, a manageable number for a big mountain outside the park. As the week prior went by, the weather outlook gradually deteriorated and the expectation of cancellations grew. Surprisingly at meet up time only 2 cancellations had come in and one or two at a time, the enthusiastic, optimistic group began to show up until everyone was there and ready to give it their best shot. As we got underway, the weather was a bit wet occasionally, but the group was ready for it and geared up. Snowshoes were eventually needed as spring conditions turned to winter and we reached the Swan Crest in windy almost whiteout conditions. At one of the secondary summits we decided that without the ability to see where snow met sky and no views beyond 20 feet in any direction we'd made the most of what we had and would return the way we came. As the return hike proceeded the weather improved and by the time the vehicles were reached the conditions were perfect for after hike festivities with snacks and drinks. A great attitude is the way to describe this whole group. No complaints were expressed about anything from start to finish, as people showed how to make the most of things and have a great time in spite of less than perfect conditions.
