Originally billed as an easy partial day. This was according to one of the coordinator's memories. But as the other coordinator reminds him, he remembers all previous climbs that way, and his memories are generally not accurate compared to the reality. So luckily after a preclimb exploration of another route, the description was updated to reflect this year's conditions which were made more challenging due to heavy snow remaining from winter. The weather was great and everyone made it on time for the meeting up and start west of Lindberg Lake at 9:30. The coordinator with the questionable memory attempted to direct the group of 11 onto the intended route and everything went great until it was determined that the wrong ridge had been ascended. With confidence in that coordinator's routefinding at a new low, and some separation between participants, other options were considered and 3 groups formed. Two went toward the ridge which had been the originally intended route and regrouped without much difficulty or time wasted from the mistake. The other group which numbered 4 and included some very accomplished mountaineers with advanced skills, ascended by way of a more difficult direct route and summited ahead of the others. The other group then made the summit as well. The views around the still snowbound Missions were a superb reward for the efforts. The return to the vehicles went well mostly, in spite of the route finding being made more difficult by the mountain being quite different than on the prior year's climb due to deep snow this year. So the last of the climbers made it back to the vehicles at 7. With the Memorial Day holiday the following day, pressure to get going wasn't too high, and after hike festivities of snacks and drinks were enjoyed around a bonfire. This experienced group overcame the challenges of the snow and the mistakes, remained positive, and everyone indicated it was a great climb. Elevation gain turned out to be just over 4000', mostly on snow.
