Write Up:
I met up with my group of seven highly capable GMS friends at Cameron Lake. I was keen to lead them up a new “interesting” south ridge route I had scouted out earlier that week. The weather looked ideal, however it was extremely windy on the upper part of the ridge. I recalled being literally blown off my feet the last time I lead this, but today we were able to tough it out & continue to the summit of Mt. Carthew. Due to lingering snow we were forced to find an alternate route down cliff bands on the north face of Carthew. It proved to be very challenging, however the wind had died down and the group was up for it, so we were able to bag Buchanan Peak. We had a fun glissade down a steep snow slope on our way to intersect the trail leading to Waterton townsite. It was a highly memorable day with a wonderful group of friends.
