Sat, Aug 2 2014 - Holland Peak (View Original Event Details)

Coordinator(s): John Oliver Ellis
Participants:John Oliver Ellis, Jim Boyer, Rick Fopp, Stacey Endebrock, David Endebrock, Adam McClure, Diane Lundgren, Jason Wilkes, Amy Lieser

Write Up:
The beginning and the end of the Holland Peak climb reminds one of Great Northern. Straight up and no switchbacks. It's really that way the whole climb except for a short transition into lower Rumble Lake and a walk on an improbable flat plateau that precedes the Knife Edge walk just before the summit. Everyone was fascinated watching huge blocks of snow break off the slopes of the Knife Edge and crash into the basin below. It took our group about 11 hours with a lunch stop on the way up and a swim stop on the way down at Upper Rumble Lake.
