Write Up:
This event was canceled due to participants removing themselves from the climbing list. However, Richard Briles and I did a pre-climb on July 30th. We hiked a gated road for 2.5 miles and then went to Pony Lake via an unmarked fisherman’s trail. A short bushwhack east of Pony Lake takes you to the Swan Crest north of Union Peak. We climbed to the crest and went south towards the summit block. We traversed onto the west face and climbed to the summit. The return route was down into the Cat Lake basin and then out via a fisherman’s trail and back to the gated road. Weather was warm and we had great views of the Swan and Mission ranges.
