The climb was canceled Sunday due to poor weather but was completed Monday, September 1st. Eight of us left the Eagle Pass trail head at 8:15AM and proceeded east towards the mountain under cloudy skies. The route uses the trail for a short distance and then proceeds east through a thick cedar forest. We eventually left the forest and climbed up and on to the Northwest ridge. Steep bear grass slopes along with other wet vegetation made climbing mildly challenging. The NW ridge leads directly to the North end of Calowachan. Fog prevented us from seeing the mountain top until we were near the summit. Our route was complicated somewhat by the wet rock conditions high on the west face. Everyone was careful and we summited without any incidents. After enjoying the views we moved down fairly quickly and were back at the trail head shortly after 7PM. GPS data showed about 12 miles and 6000 feet of elevation gain. The eight climbers were Don Arthur, Richard Briles, Denise Davies, Brian Kennedy, Laurel Vielle, Frank Wesolovski, Robin Young, and Jim Valentine.
