Write Up:
We left the North Shore trailhead promptly at 7:00 a.m. The hike along Two Medicine Lake provided an excellent warm-up before the ascent to Dawson Pass. We arrived at the pass in the late morning. After following the trail another half-mile, we veered across the southern slope of Flinsch Peak along an ill-defined goat trail. The west ridge was followed and we summited at 1:30 p.m. Lunch was abruptly terminated when lightning was spotted. After running off the summit slopes, we quickly backtracked along the ridge to Dawson Pass along two excellent goat trails that lasted approximately one mile. Too bad these trails were not evident during the ascent! We returned to the trailhead just before 7 p.m. A few of us completed the day at the Two Medicine Grill in East Glacier. We were Patrick Dryden, Bill Krause, April Seubert, and Rick Thomas.
