Despite rain and clouds, an intrepid group of eight climbers started at Many Glacier Hotel towards Morning Eagle Falls and Peak 9,175. The skies cleared for the off-trail ascent through a beautiful basin above the Falls. We had blue sky for awhile and great views from the top. Our time on the summit was unfortunately shortened when Ron first heard buzzing and crackling of impending lighting. We dashed off of the top and took our "summit" shot several hundred feet down just above the main couloir. Despite halos, buzzing poles, and brief shocks, we all made it safely out. Total mileage was a bit over 17 with 5,700' ascent. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
