The trail up to the lake had been maintained, so the route was free of blowdown. It took 3.25 hours to reach the lake. We found a great spot for lunch and swimming. Piper Lake is fairly shallow so warmer than others. Two of us hiked another mile around the lake to reach Ducharm Lake, good camp spots there. After a couple of hours enjoying the lake, we returned to the trailhead. A very hot walk on this 99 degree day. Go for the huckleberries in the fall.
