It was a long way to Bearhead, up to Firebrand Pass, up again to the summit of Red Crow, down to the saddle above Lena Lake, follow the goat trail to DeSanto Pass and then up to the summit of Bearhead. We took the scree escalator down to the goat trail, bypassing Desanto Pass on the way back, and then down to Lena Lake for a foot bath and water pump. There is a trail from Lena Lake up to the basin below Firebrand Pass which saved us from a bushwhack. Back to the cars at 6:40, an almost 11 hour trip with 5100 elevation. Lots of good views of the Marias Pass and Two Medicine peaks. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
