Write Up:
A beautiful Montana day greeted Ken McDermott, Rick Thomas, John Ellis, Robin Young, Dennis Eaves, Colin Cummings, George Scherman, Stacey and David Endebrock as we met at the Apikuni Falls trailhead. We condensed into two vehicles and drove to the Iceberg Lake trailhead where we began our journey. We were on trail by 8:15 and started our off trail portion soon after. We took the South Couloir route and made it readily to the summit of Henkel by 11:30. An enjoyable snack time, gorgeous views and lots of pictures and we were on our way to Apikuni mountain. Negotiating a little class lll & lV cliffs we obtained and walked the long ridge to the summit of Apikuni. We enjoyed the views and a bit of wind before descending down the scree to the Apikuni Falls trail and out. Refreshments were enjoyed lakeside by the Many Glacier lodge. A beautiful 8 hour day enjoying our gorgeous mountains.
