From the trailhead it took us 7 hours to reach Snowshoe Lake, due mainly to the Co- ordinator not being accustomed to the weight of a multi-day pack. Good campsites at the lake. The next morning we started early enabling us to summit in 2.5 hours of mostly shady scrambling. Since we were spending another night at the lake, we spent a good while on the summit and at other scenic spots on the way back to the lake. After a swim in the lake, everyone took a nap before supper. The trip back to the trailhead the next day only took 4.5 hours and was a much more pleasant experience. This route would be hard or dangerous if the rock slabs you must ascend and descend were wet. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
