Write Up:
Mountaineer Peak (9,261 feet) buttresses the southern end of the Mission Mountains Garden Wall. On the GMS schedule in 2013 and 2014, bad weather forced climb cancellation. This year, the timing was perfect. On Sunday, we backpacked to Lucifer Lake. A wonderful campfire was enjoyed by all. We departed the following morning at 7:20 a.m. The last mountaineers arrived at the summit at 10:45 a.m. The view was spectacular in all directions, from the Mission Valley farmland to the west, McDonald Peak immediately north, the Swan Range to the east, and Gray Wolf Peak just south. We returned to Lucifer Lake by the early afternoon. We donned our backpacks and arrived at the Mission Creek trailhead in the very late afternoon. The technical crux was not on the mountain itself, but on the trail below Lucifer Lake where a short class 3 cliff must be surmounted with heavy pack. We were Don Arthur, Matt Brake, Denise Davies, Brian Kennedy, Bill Krause, Carly Putman, Bill Schulz, and Don Scharfe.

Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you.
