Write Up:
Glorious day. We met at the Saint Mary boat dock at 6am. George was incredibly generous to us all by bringing his inflatable self-bailing raft. We piled in with our gear and the 4 host motor got us to the base of Red Eagle in quick and relaxing time. We were entertaining by a huge female moose swimming in the calm waters of the lake. We tied off the raft just SW of Silver Dollar beach. A long scramble up the drainage to the ridge. We traversed the south side of the ridge and made our way to the summit of Red Eagle. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery and lunch. Walked the ridge to Matotopah. Our out took us down the east side of Matotopah through varied footing. At about 6000ft we started our bushwhack north to the Saint Mary trail. Once on trail we enjoyed service berries and soft footing for several miles back to the raft. We were enjoying our tailgate party by 6. Great day. 10 miles and 5600 ft elevation.
