A slow-paced outing was the plan. We were only 100 yards into the hike when a large grizzly bear was encountered enjoying breakfast on "our" trail. A detour around was taken and we resumed our up via the South American route. Eyes on the skies today as storms were building all around. When the summit cliffs were reached our group split. David took several back down and the rest of us scrambled to the summit. Our down was a fun/rapid scree run from the saddle west of the summit almost all the way to the tree line. A little bushwhacking to the trail parallel ing Many Glacier road and we were back to the vehicles by 1:20. Our tailgate was creative as the showers began just as we reached the parking lot.
