Write Up:
The group veered off the Cut Bank Pass Trail just before (unofficial) 8283 Creek and found a nice ramp to take us up the SW ridge of Kupunkamint Mountain. While we enjoyed lunch near Peak 8731, some ominous clouds moved in and we decided to cancel the trip to Peak 8283 and instead climb Kupunkamint. Afterwards we descended to the east towards the Boundary Trail and managed to mostly avoid the thunderstorm. According to GPS: 10.8 miles, 4000 ft total elevation gain. Climb list: Paul Cogswell, Steve Patitsas, Bill Schultz, Sue Shannon.
