Write Up:
Everything seemed to be on track for a great day. Cars were placed at Jackson Glacier Overlook at 5:30 and the team met at the trail head for a 6:30 departure. In spite of the fact that the weather did not appear to be favorable, eight courageous climbers set out down the trail, braving the mud and the horse manure, toward Mt. Wynn. Upon reaching the streambed where the ascent of Mt. Wynn begins, it was determined that the rock was very slippery. This would have substantially increased the amount of time required for that portion and the chances of injury. So Cracker Lake became the alternative, and since most of the team had never been there it was a good one. After a picnic, some exploration and pictures in the Cracker Lake area the team departed for the hike out during which the weather cleared, and once again it became summer. The event finished with cold drinks in the lounge at the Many Glacier Hotel and even though the objective had not been achieved, there didn't seem to be any serious disappointment about the day.
