Happy, energetic snow shoers were rewarded with a sunny bluebird day, very solid uphill snow and spectacular views of the park and the mountains of the Great Bear Wilderness. After consolidating vehicles in Kalispell and Columbia Falls we parked at the beginning of the trailhead, Forest road 499, to the old Gary Lookout site. Spirits were high as the sun shone on the snow covered terrain. We took several breaks on the way up to take a lot of pictures. Our lunch spot was at 5917 offered us INCREDIBLE views of the park, Stanton Lake and Great Northern/Grant. Several members built an interesting snowman while others wondered around the ridge recording the beautiful scenery. The snow was very soft going down. A well deserved banquet was enjoyed when we arrived back to our vehicles. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos.
