Wednesday, July 26th twelve GMS climbers met at Lake McDonald Lodge for an adventure to Edwards Mountain. We were happy to be hiking in the shade for five miles to the Sperry Chalet trail as the sun accompanied us to Comeau Pass and the rest of the day. The group included John Reynolds, April Seubert, Brian Hobday, Dean Stensland, Desi Palmer, Alda Sigvaldason, Colin Cummings, Ryker McIntyre, Gail Meuchel, Tram Stout and Laurel Vielle. The coordinator's memory was foggy, as usual, having climbed the peak nearly seventeen years ago. Fortunately a group route finding plan came together and we headed for the summit. There was much more class four than anticipated but the challenged was easily matched by an enthusiastic group. We followed the “nose” up from Comeau Pass as several climbers probed to establish the “best” route. My thanks to Laurel, Colin John and Desi for there route finding skills. Ryker, our nineteen year old climber was also in the forefront. It was a twelve hour day, nineteen plus miles and a 5,800 foot elevation gain. Chips, salsa (Cowboy Caviar) and beverages were shared at the end of the day. A great group and memorable Glacier climb.
