The trip went off without any problems. Weather forecast was iffy but luckily we were never rained on. We biked the 7 miles from Avalanche Creek to the loop and parked out bikes. We then hiked the trail for about 1.5 miles, left the trail and scrambled up about 100ft of rock shelves to reach the snow level. Put on our snowshoes and hoofed our way up through the ghost forest to the chalet. It was one of the coldest trips we have had to the chalet in years, so had to huddle out of the wind for lunch and didn't spent too much time up there. Two black bears were seen along the way, the first at the parking lot waiting to start. Then another soon after we started biking.
