Write Up:
For those wanting a fun hike, with no climbing, this is a great trip. We left the parking lot at 8:00 a.m. and were at the Grinnell Glacier overlook by 10:00. From there we followed the climber's trail to the outlet of Upper Grinnell Lake. Those of us with long legs were able to cross without putting on water shoes, but most of us waded the cold water. From there we guided to the saddle between the two wings, then up to the top. Great views of the whole valley, Gould, Piegan Pass and Grinnell from the top. Four of us climbed the south wing also, an easy 20 minute detour. We had a lot more tourists to pass on the way down, but not as crowded as it might have been. A great alternative to the more crowded trails of the Many Glacier area.
