Summit and Little Dog - Aug 15, 2010 By bill Haring On a beautiful day we start the climb from Marias Pass and the Autumn Creek trail. The cool sunny weather is great for climbing and hiking. When we pass Three Bears Lake a giant Crane is in flight and the mountains are mirrored on the flat lake. We climb up the steep South ridge to the saddle and skirting the large cliff to the South we climb Summit (elevation 8,610) for lunch. Back to the saddle for the assent up Little Dog (elevation 8610). Back down to the saddle and a scree slope to the grass, trees and Autumn Creek Trail. Nine miles and 4,934 elevation gain. Marias Pass is a welcome site for our Tail Gate Party after nine hours of climbing and hiking.
