Write Up:
The recent visit of a strong pineapple express virtually eliminated any chance to find decent snow quality for skiing. Styrofoam snow seemingly at all elevations. Hiking is not great in the mountains as snow is encountered fairly quickly into the journey. The snow is mostly unsupportable making for slow uphill travel. We hiked with friends in the Challenge burn up the west slope of Elk Calf on Saturday. The summit was in reach with few snow patches but the bitter wind and a lack of inspiration turned us around. Nice to be in the sunshine. Hoping for a return of old man winter soon. Happy Thanksgiving
