Mt. Choteau (8398 FT) June 30, 2018 Dennis Eaves and David Schuler summited Mt Choteau. Started at Cleary Coulee trailhead, hiked about 3 miles on the east side of the mountain and then scrambled up a mountain coulee to the ridge. Walked the ridge to summit. Exited down the west side to coulee to Jones Creek back to the Teton Canyon Road. We positioned a car at Jones Creek to ride back to Cleary Coulee with is about 4 miles away. The hike/Climb was 7 miles with 3281 feet of elevation gain in 6 hours and 52 minutes. Weather was partly cloudy, with some wind at times, especially the summit. The mountain is rich in fossils of ocean shells and coral. Overall a beautiful day to be out enjoy the great Montana outdoors.
