Ahern Peak, Backcountry camp, Glacier National Park. About 25 miles with over 9300 feet of elevation gain. Started with the intent to summit Ipasha but we only summitted Ahern. On the way we had high winds and decided to camp in Ahern Pass to get some shelter from the winds and summit Ahern and Ipasha after we establish camp. On the way up Ahern the wind gust was around 30 to 40 mph and as we drop down to head over to Ipasha and we were not sure of the safe route down though the cliffs. Time was also a factor as our day light was running out and it would not be safe to return to camp in the dark. Wind was also a factor in the decision. My plan is conquer Ipasha summit via Cattle Queen Creek next year with a two day undesignated camping permit. This would give us time to enjoy the area and time for safe route finding. Thanks for the team for their input and inspiration the last couple of days. Logan Smith, celebrated his 18th birthday on the 20th, soon to be member of the United States Marines, Semper Fi, wish you the best as you serve our wonderful country. Keegan Siebenaler, will be soon heading to University of Notre Dame, Indiana, home of the Fighting Irish. Wish you well in your education adventure. I see a bright future in both young men. It was a real pleasure to hike, camp and climb with you both. Craig, thanks again for your love for the backcoutry and GMS friend and support. Hope all of you would be able to join me next year to summit Ipasha. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
