June 3, 2018. Objective: Medicine Mtn, the Bison and The Head. Participants: Charlotte J, Donna, Amanda K, Cindy W, Brain K, Denise D, Quinn F, Scott P, Jim B, Caroline C, Dennis E, Alda S, Kate K and George S. We left the Scenic point TH just after 8:30. Skies were mostly clear and the temp was around 45F, wind was moderate. The hike up to the Scenic point saddle was steady as always, but the wind steadily increased. We encountered two yearling Bighorn rams that passed us close by. At the saddle the wind was very strong. Donna, Charlotte, Caroline, Jim and Kate opted to go back to the valley and hike in the trees to Aster Point. The rest of us spent a few minutes sheltered behind an east facing ledge atop a lingering cornice. We then proceeded along the ridge leading to the saddle north of Medicine Mtn. Near the saddle the wind became very strong with gusts estimated over 50 mph. There was some difficulty standing. At this point the group agreed to descend. We ate lunch in the lee of Scenic point and went down the trail from there. We encountered another young ram who ran close by the length of the group on the trail. We tailgated at the trail head. then drove to the lake where we reunited with the others. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album?
