The weather was cool and misty when the 5 of us started out. We had heard that there might be some dangerous creek crossings on the trail. The first one was an easy rock hop and the second one had a large log that had been notched by the Forest Service; however, the third and final crossing was too tricky for everyone to feel comfortable about. So three of our group returned to their warm and dry cars. Two of us made this last crossing and ascended the final mile and a half, the last 1/3 of which was on snow, to North Hemlock Lake. The Lake was frozen. Instead of returning the way we came, we completed the 12 mile loop that goes by Hemlock Lake. We were wet, but completed what I advertised as an exploratory hike. A trip that should be taken by all in good weather. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
