Eleven of us started our climb of Spot mountain at the Two Med entrance station just before 9 am. A road closure on Highway 49 at Looking Glass pass prevented us from starting the hike there. The first 3/4 mile was up the Dry creek trail. After leaving the trail we encountered fairly mild bushwhacking in getting to the rocky upper section of this ascent. Scrambling was easy. The temperature was mid to high 60s and the air a bit smokey from the giant fire in northern Alberta. We encountered several handsome bighorns who all seemed pretty unfazed by our presence. Our route avoided all but the patchiest snow. Views from the top were fine. Everyone made the summit. The descent was easy with great views as some of the smoke dissipated. I think we were about 5 hours trailhead to trailhead. Participants were: Eric Smart, Adam McClure, Cindy Weaver, Sarah Corse, Dennis Eaves, Mike Contrada, John Ellis, Arynn Maznio, David Archibald, Rob Bates and George Scherman.
