Write Up:
David Patterson, Eric Smart and Mike Contrada enjoyed hiking Divide Mountain on a bright, clear, and hot day. Leaving from the communications tower road, they hiked the north-side ridge to the Lookout and then to the peak, which they summited by mid-morning. They decided to explore the south-side ridge line to White Calf but gave up after finding no way down the cliff bands to the saddle. Descending the drainage on the west side toward the boulder field, they stopped halfway to rest for lunch. Deciding the approach to White Calf was too problematic, they proceeded to side-hill the broad east-side scree slope back to the Lookout and then down to cool refreshments at the car.
