Write Up:
When I have seen this event posted in the past the normal route to the mountain starts in East Glacier. Being GMS week I didn't want to have to have a bunch of members from out of state to have to figure out how to purchase a Blackfeet Recreation Permit, so I decided to walk a little farther and start from the Lubec Lake / Firebrand Pass trail head.

The trail hike to the junction with Firebrand pass trail was fine. After this the next couple miles were more of a bushwhack than a trail hike. So overgrown and un-maintained that there were times you could not see the trail and had to feel for it with your feet. Once we reached the high point of the trail the climbers/game trail was easy to find and we started up the mountain.

It's a steep short climb to the top, only about 1500 vertical feet from where you leave the trail. Would have been a nice climb if not for 50+ mph winds that kicked in once we were in the open.

We had a quick lunch at the summit hiding from the wind. Then after some discussion as to whether to brave the trail or the wind, we altered out plan and decided to walk the ridge back to Lena Lake and walk out the Firebrand Pass trail. The winds died down during the traverse and we had an enjoyable time.
