Beautiful weather combined with a great loop climb to make this a classic GMS trip. From the Cut Bank trailhead we moved quickly up the trail on the way towards Morning Star Lake. Well before the lake, we ascended some grassy ledges and found a difficult way through very steep vegetated cliffs. The usual route is further up the trail, but we eventually made it into the basin with the unnamed lake south of Medicine Grizzly Peak. Following a break near the lake, we ascended the steep slopes that led to some fun, mostly class 3 cliffs just below the summit.

After enjoying the fabulous summit views, eating lunch, and some discussion, instead of heading down the same way and using the standard route through the lower cliffs, we opted to descend on the north side down to the Medicine Grizzly Lake trail. Have just climbed it that way a few years ago, I was able to lead the group down the northern ridge to the steep north slopes, across the bench with another unnamed lake, and found the game trail that took us all the way down to Atlantic creek. We took the first somewhat difficult crossing we found, but everyone made it across (some with wetter feet than others). Then it was a quick jaunt up to the trail that took us all the way back to Cut Bank.

The loop took us just under 11 hours, 14.5 miles, and a total of about 3,800‘ of elevation gain.
