Write Up:
We had a great GMS bike, hike, and climb on Friday up to Flattop Mountain with seven of us biking the road nearly seven miles from Avalanche to the trailhead at Packers Roost. Then we hiked the trail up past the Flattop backcountry campground and headed off trail up to the ridge and a grizzly bear. The bear kept munching on Glacier Lily bulbs as we then took a long stroll along the ridge to the summit. Views were fabulous of both the Lewis and Livingston ranges and the carpet of Glacier Lilies and Spring Beauties covered the upper slopes. Between biking, hiking, and scrambling, we covered almost 29 miles and 4,300' elevation gain.
