Beautiful blue skies and moderate temperatures combined for a lovely, if long, early climb before Logan Pass opened to vehicles. We got an early start for the long day, and then took the old trail to Comeau Pass to avoid snow bridges (and the lack of bridges) on the new trail. The stairs were snow free after we ascended a steep snowfield to get to them. From there, we took the ridge route to the top of Edwards, enjoying some class 3 and 4 climbing along the way. After returning to Comeau Pass, half the group (Hohf, Contrada, Okerberg, and Smart) chose to bag Gunsight as well. The other half took the long hike out, returning to the vehicles a bit sore but pleased with the 18.5 miles and 6,100’ elevation gain for the day. The Gunsight crew made it out safely somewhat later. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
