The instant we starting hiking at 8am it started to rain. Rained on us for the first mile. Then everything cleared up and the rest of the day was very nice. We had many drop off the last couple days leading up to the event. Most likely because of the 60% chance of rain. Elk is not a complicated mountain to summit since there is no climbing or scrambling. It has a well maintained trail all the way to the top. Its still a bit of work getting there, the trail is very steep. Its only 3.5 miles but you gain 3400 ft of elevation and most of that is in the last 2.5 miles.

Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you.
