Cindy Weaver, David Archibald, Becca Stohr, Dennis Eaves, Arynn Maznio(didn’t summit), Sue Shannon In lieu of well-traveled loop approach, David Archibald had suggested on an earlier hike that we go up the weeping wall hiker’s trail to the highline before Haystack. Parking is much more roomy there as well. So, with a note to participants of meeting change, we met at 7:00 to start the adventure. This early in the morning, we had the highline mostly to ourselves arriving at the Grinnell Glacier overlook about 10:30. Was thankful to have David Archibald and Dennis Eaves along who had both climbed Grinnell previously. We crossed the scree slope from the overlook and traversed to the saddle before the ridge leading up to Grinnell Mtn. Pretty straight forward ridge walk with gusty winds encouraging us to find shelter just off the top of the mountain for lunch. We scraped options to return via Swiftcurrent Glacier and return via same route to pick up Arynn who had elected to stay at the overlook. Potlucked our leftovers and snacks left in the car in the parking lot for a review and reminiscence of another great GMS adventure.
