A different kind of event for this club, no climbing involved. This event was put together by Eric Smart, unfortunately he had to go out of town for business, but the event went on without him. Eric's wife Barb still went with us driving the Sag Wagon.

We met late, almost 10am, at Kila School. Ten bikes headed down the trail and up Browns Meadow pass road. The last mile up to the pass was tough to pedal, with the dry weather the road bed had turned to dusty silt up to 5 inches deep, many bikers had to walk the bike that last bit.We reached the pass about 12:30 and found the Sag Wagon had a flat tire that had to be changed.

I had thought from the description that reaching the pass would be the toughest part of the trip. Turns out that was just the first 1500 vertical of the 4500 we would have to ascend over the 56 miles, 40 miles of which were on dirt or gravel.

It was a long day, taking 7 to 8 hours to reach our destination. Most were staying at Symes Hot Springs Resort, enjoying soaking in the mineral water pools and having a nice meal in their restaurant.

For some the first day of riding was too much and elected to not make the return trip by bike. Six riders rode back taking a different route that was 10 miles shorter.

Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you.
