Great Northern proved to be a challenge. Both temperature and smoke were better than expected. We were prepared for high temps but were blessed with moderate temps and as the day progressed it evolved into a almost smoke free sky. If you have ever hiked the Great Northern you understand how difficult the first, and last, 1.6 miles are. The group took the accents in stride but took it slower coming down to save the knees. The hike on the ridge was wonderful and the goat trails seemed to be well worn compare to prior accents. Several of us were taking on a new challenge and the final notch was a bit intimidating for one member with 3 of us summitted. Friendships and memory were made and back at the trailhead everyone agreed it was well worth the effort. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
