Write Up:
Mount James, although a worthy peak at 8750’, was an alternative to Razoredge. With the late snow and melting, the bench crossing from Triple Divide pass to the ridge of Razoredge was impassable. We had two reports from viewpoints that the snow might still be ‘hanging in there.’ A few warm days kept our hopes up for ‘the view’ from just below the pass. As we ascended via the trail, it became all to clear that the late-spring snow would keep us from our original destination. Coordinators Mike Contrada and Cindy Weaver were joined by: Austin Lindsey, Sue Shannon, Kian Ryan, Patrick Ryan and April Seubert. After the long trail approach to Triple Divide Pass, we took a substantial break. Refueled and refreshed, we pushed on up the long ridgeline to Mount James Summit. The ‘views from the top’ never get old and we ate lunch turning in all directions pointing out peaks near and far. Back down to just below the pass and retracing steps to the parked cars at Cutbank ranger station for a substantial tail gate party reward.
