Write Up:
7/2/22 This was a combined climb of GMS and the Missoula based The Rocky Mountaineers. Gail and I were quite pleased to meet and climb with three TRM members we had not previously met. The weather was blue bird and trip spectacular. The Camas Creek drainage features three alpine lakes separated by massive granite slabs. Spring runoff made the journey over the slabs "interesting" to say the least. Lots of detours. Around five miles up the creek we were greeted by a magical marsh/ wooded meadow just before the talus approach. There was mixed snow and talus the final 900 feet which became tedious as we climbed. The summit of Camas Point afforded astounding views in all directions. Emily Brown a KPAX journalist intern joined the group to create a KPAX TV news segment on The Rocky Mountaineers. We will all be TV stars. We returned to the trial head around 5:30 to enjoy beverages and "cowboy caviar". Climbers included, Dell and Gail Meuchel, Jim and Cathy Semmelroth and Emily Brown.
