Another ‘alternative hike’ for this season. A dead elk and bear activity kept the trail to Grizzly Mountain closed. Coordinator Cindy Weaver had McClintok on her list and offered it as an alternative to her co-coordinator Michelle Fauth with the carrot of bonus peak Morgan depending on how the day went. Rounding out the group: Jessica Longnecker, Alda Sigvaldson, Dell Meuchel, Gail Meuchel, and Michelle’s son as her guest Mason. This group was fast and we were up near Cutbank pass in no time. There was a small snow field that pushed us on the higher trail toward Pitamakin Pass. There the group split with Cindy, Dell and Gail heading to McClintok summit and the rest going for a double headed to Morgan. We ate lunch and watch the Morgan group along the skyline. We headed down and as we were just dropping down into Old Man Lake basin we could see the Morgan group heading off McClintok—successful in their double summit quest. We rejoined forces back at the trailhead for a refreshing tail gate party and sharing adventures from both parties. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
