This trip was changed several times: it started as a Big Mountain ski ascent when it was initialy scheduled, changed to Cascadilla Creek to take advantage of current backcountry skiing conditions, then finally changed to Marion Ridge due to current avalanche conditions. The result was a fun 3,000 ft ascent up Marion Ridge from the Izaak Walton Inn and down the other side into Dickey Creek - at least 12 inches of powder was discovered at the top of the ridge, making the whole trip worth it. Powder conditions were from the top of the rige at 6800 ft down to about 5,000 ft, at which point the snow turned into a slush mixture. Weather was cooperative with mostly sunny skies and cool temperatures most of the day. Trip mileage was about 8 miles. Frank Wesolovski contributed excellent leadership on this trip as co-coordinator.
