Due to late submission and some snafu in the listing and allowing people to sign up, coordinators Brenda Winkler and Cindy Weaver were the only climbers for Baring Point. Cindy had summited it several years earlier and forgot how much climbing was involved. For such a short—both distance and elevation/height of a summit, it is not for the faint of heart. It was a definite slog up the last scree slope to the summit ridgeline. The colors of the changing trees and vegetation made for beautiful views in all directions. Fun scrambling on the way down following a bit of a different route. First and last several hundred feet from the highway presented the always lovely bushwack. Have some photos from this event that you'd like to share in our photo album? Please forward them to Tim Anderson at twamontana@gmail.com. Please note that we prefer to receive the photos in approximately 640x480 or 750x500 pixels - do NOT send original high-res photos. If you have a LOT of photos, please submit up to twenty of your favorites (only) for a day event, or up to forty of your favourites for a multi-day event. Thank you. |
